Resolving a Stuck Roaming License in GibbsCAM (RLM)

Overview

When a GibbsCAM network roaming license becomes stuck in a roaming state and fails to check back in or release properly, the borrowed license seat remains unavailable on the network. This article outlines the step-by-step procedure to clear stuck roaming data on both the client workstation and the license server, restoring normal license checkout functionality.

Resolution Steps

Step 1: Clear Roaming Data on the Client Workstation

  1. Navigate to the local GibbsCAM license data directory on the affected client machine: C:\ProgramData\Gibbs\GibbsCAM\LicenseData\260.0

  2. Locate and delete the roaming XML file associated with the stuck license state.

Step 2: Clean Reprise Client Cache

  1. Open the Reprise directory on the client machine: C:\ProgramData\Reprise

  2. Delete all cached files in this folder except the following file to preserve essential client state:

    • rlminfo.5053

Step 3: Clean Reprise Server Cache

  1. Log in to the license server hosting the Reprise License Manager.

  2. Navigate to the server's Reprise directory: C:\ProgramData\Reprise

  3. Delete all files in this folder except the following required system files:

    • rlm.info.5053

    • rlmlock

Step 4: Restart the License Server Service

  1. Open the Services manager on the license server (or use an administrative command prompt).

  2. Locate the Reprise License Manager service.

  3. Restart the service to clear active locks and reload the available license inventory.

[!NOTE] Once these steps are completed, the stuck roaming license will be cleared, and the seat will become available to be checked out again across the network. If the issue persists, verify network connectivity between the client and the license server.
